Soft tissue masses, such as ganglion cysts are a common condition. Soft tissue masses may be small or large and appear as lumps or bumps under the skin. They typically are not harmful or cancerous, although they are usually biopsied. Some cysts are painless, but the majority cause some degree of discomfort. Outpatient surgery may be recommended if masses are painful, cause numbness or tingling, or interfere with functional movement.
